Brief Description

The objective of this project is to enhance national actions and policy coordination by supporting the development of policies and plans that promote food security and inclusive and sustainable economic growth and encourage resilient food trade and transport systems while taking potential shocks into account. The project involves three phases. Phase 1 will establish the state of play and identify needs and gaps by conducting an assessment. The aim is to improve understanding of the current food trade and transport situation at the national and regional levels and to identify recommendations and fit-for-context response measures and solutions including capacity-building to enhance the sustainability and resilience of food trade and transport systems in target countries and regions. Phase 2 aims to support the target countries in implementing the recommendations formulated under Phase 1 as validated and prioritized by key stakeholders from the target countries and regions during the validation workshops. Phase 3 focuses on enhancing regional cooperation to ensure that the benefits from the project are widely disseminated to other countries within each of the regions and to promote sustainable and resilient food trading and transport systems across regions. Partnerships, collaboration, online platforms and adequate institutional mechanisms, and data and experience sharing will serve as levers for collaboration and long-term sustainability of project.
