Brief Description
The project aims to help five Least Developed Countries (LDCs) increase their chances of achieving structural economic and social progress towards and beyond graduation from LDC status. This involves the provision of (i) country-specific analytical material on the implications of LDC graduation, vulnerabilities and related resilience-building, and inputs into smooth transition strategies; (ii) relevant advisory services to policymakers; and (iii) action to help project beneficiaries to use industrial policy more effectively to graduate with momentum.
Objective and Expected Outcomes
Objective
To enhance the ability of the four African least developed countries and one Asian least developed country that are pre-qualified for graduation from least developed country status to achieve structural economic and social progress, and to use the milestone of graduation from least developed country status as an opportunity to find new avenues for gaining international support for their further development efforts, so as to achieve graduation with momentum.
Expected Outcome 1
Strengthened capacity, among government officials and other stakeholders in beneficiary countries, to formulate and implement resilience-building policies, which foster graduation with momentum
Expected Outcome 2
Strengthened capacity, among government officials in beneficiary countries to mainstream industrial policy objectives and strategies into graduation strategies
