Objective
To strengthen the capacity of policy makers to formulate and evaluate economic and social development policies, including those emanating from the Millennium Development Goals, and to design a framework and instruments for modelling approaches to study the social impact of macroeconomic policies
Expected Outcome 1
Development and application of an integrated framework to assess socially inclusive macroeconomic policies that provide quantitative answers regarding the financial feasibility of achieving the MDGs for a selected group of developing countries and economies in transition in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, in collaboration with local team of researchers and policy makers
Expected Outcome 2
Adaptation of the framework including country-specific elements and specification of linkages on trade and finance at international and regional level
Expected Outcome 3
Increased awareness of the available policy space for effective macroeconomic policies and poverty reduction, by facilitating an improved dialogue between researchers and policy makers at the national level; Development of toolkits to make applications transferable to other countries
