Brief Description

DPAD/UN-DESA has provided support to governments in a number of developing countries in assessing strategies to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and in formulating policies to mitigate external shocks on human development. In recognizing the value of the support that they have received, governments have expressed their interest in receiving more support to design policies to accelerate progress towards the MDGs and build a coherent development agenda to be pursued after 2015, underscoring the desire to be better informed about their options when they embark on the process of defining their country.

Objective and Expected Outcomes

Objective
To support government experts and policy makers in selected developing countries in assessing policy options and priorities through economy-wide and micro modelling tools in order to define a smooth transition from MDG-based national development strategies to broader sustainable development strategies
Expected Outcome 1
Enhanced capacity of government experts to use and adopt economy-wide and micro modelling tools for analysing coherent macroeconomic, social, and environmental policies
Expected Outcome 2
Enhanced capacities of policy makers in selected countries to assess policy options based on modelling tools in order to inform sustainable development strategies
