This project builds on the momentum generated by previous and ongoing ESCWA activities and aims to address the increasing demand for support towards the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the realization of the SDGs. It is designed along the three main stages that member States will generally advance through as they adapt and mainstream the 2030 Agenda into their sustainable development efforts. Knowledge and capacity building activities will address the needs of member States from the earlier stages of understanding, awareness building and advocacy, to alignment, integration and implementation. The project will also focus on Follow-Up and Review by supporting mechanisms and tools that allow for the assessment of progress, achievements and challenges faced. The project consists of national and regional-level components. It aims to target three countries by providing direct support through national activities. It is also designed to ensure the engagement of a larger number of Arab countries in regional capacity and consensus building activities. It aims to foster dialogue on key development priorities and engage government representatives and other stakeholders with a view to maximize learning and experience exchange opportunities.
