Brief Description
This project will establish the first ever e-learning platform in Arabic offering a suite of capacity building opportunities for Arabic-speaking civil servants. At its core is a one-year online Executive Programme on Public Policy in Arabic language that will combine resources from several renown public policy academic programmes to offer a unique professional development opportunity for hundreds of public employees. Additionally, the platform will host a repository of easily accessible, high-quality online training courses in Arabic on various public policy areas for learners from member countries. These will include but are not limited to policy design and drafting; social, environmental and economic justice; participation; transparency and equality; collaborative policymaking and political negotiations; and strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation among others. The platform will combine knowledge derived from ESCWA-specific mandates and from UN entities based in the region as well as academia to support member States in the implementation and awareness-raising on the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. With the establishment of a centralized knowledge and training hub the project responds to the increasing demand by member States for capacity-building of their civil servants on the policy cycle and addresses the lack of high-quality, demand-driven and affordable training material in Arabic language. For, despite the demand has increased, not a single e-learning platform providing training in Arabic exists.
