Brief Description
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of policymakers in selected countries with special needs in the Asia-Pacific region to effectively allocate and utilize existing financial resources, as well as mobilize additional financing, for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Coherent, coordinated and competent resource mobilization efforts and strategies are essential in the pursuit of sustainable development. ESCAP can assist member States to develop resource mobilization strategies that can serve as practical guidelines for the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA) and support the global programmes of action of the least developed, landlocked developing and small island developing States (together referred to as countries with special needs). This project will undertake primary diagnosis and analytical work to ensure how existing financial resources can be allocated more effectively and utilized more efficiently to overcome structural transformation challenges in least developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing States in the Asia-Pacific region. It will also identify and formulate forward-looking policies and tailored strategies to mobilize additional financial resources to effectively achieve the 2030 Agenda, implement the AAAA and support global programmes of action in these economies. The project will provide tailored support to policymakers of three selected countries in the region.
