The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063 provided a comprehensive global and continental framework for Africa to complete the unfinished business of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). An important lesson from the MDGs experience however is that successful implementation of international development frameworks, such as the SDGs and Agenda 2063, requires that they must be coherently integrated in national development frameworks, prioritized, and reported on. This in turn implies the need for strengthened capacities for development planning, evidence-based policymaking and monitoring and evaluation. This project aims to support selected African countries strengthen their capacity for coherent development planning, evidence-based policymaking and follow-up on Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063. The project has two components: strengthening Member States capacity for aligning and integrating international development commitments in national planning frameworks; and strengthening capacities for evidence-based policymaking and performance tracking of the global and continental agendas.
